Punta Tunich wall is a long small ridge of coral filled with sponges and a sandy bottom at about 70 feet. Sometimes the current is so swift that you literally fly along the top of the reef. Full of life you will see large black groupers lazily resting on the sand, green moray eels dancing from crevices and lots of schooling fish like horse eye jacks zipping over the reef.
There seems to always be a resident turtle lurking around seemingly oblivious to the myriad of divers that zoom by in large groups arms flapping and legs kicking spasmodically. I often wonder what the turtles must think when these awkward looking creatures float by. For the most part the turtle will ignore the divers and persistently look for a sponge meal all they while being trailed by a couple of French angel fish looking to steal a meal from turtle’s efforts.
